Summer Vacation - Stage 1 - Camping Trip

On July 18th we left PG for out camping trip through the Rockies and down to Walla Walla.



Our first stop was the Ancient Forest past Purden: what an amazing forest of trees!


Jon enjoyed climbing on the caboose while we stopped for lunch in McBride.

We spent two days in the Jasper area. Here we are at the top of the sky tram. After we had hiked to the top of Whistler Mountain, Jon built this inukshuk with all the interesting rock slabs that were scattered everywhere.

After Jasper we camped near the Columbia Icefields and hiked through the most spectacular mountain scenery!

This gorgeous spot is Bow Lake in Banff National park (near Lake Louise).


Our next stop was in the Kootenays where we enjoyed the Columbia Lake area.


On our way there, we visited some ochre beds in Kootenay National Park.

A Chip Off the Ol' Block!

Matt thought Jon might enjoy trying out the electric scooter in the parking lot today. He was right - Jon loved it!

Motorbike Boys

Matt, Jim, & Fraser headed out on a ride to Eaglet Lake yesterday; here they are as they're setting off.

Mt. Murray Hike - July 1st

On Canada Day, while Matt & Jon were out of town, I decided to join the Caledonia Ramblers for a hike up Mt. Murray in the Pine Pass. It was a gorgeous day with stunning scenery all around! I'll definitely consider this one of the most memorable days of the year.

I must say, though, that the hike itself was the most challenging I've ever attempted, so my leg muscles are still screaming!
